This is why you should never import from China again

As an importer with over 5years experience, I can tell you that mini importation business is simply a waste of time, effort and money for most people that are venturing into it.

Don’t get me wrong, you must have heard me brag about the business especially when I say things like; mini importation business has been there for me even when other businesses failed.
This is what most importers will not tell you but today I am going to tell you for free.

1. You don’t have enough capital:

Look, no matter how the business is sugar coated, mini importation business is not for those that do not have a huge capital to invest unless you are ready to start small from where you are and grow big which will take alot of time, training and diligence.
The smaller the capital you invest in this type of business the harder it is for you to break even. Coming in with a huge capital gives you a better chance to do well.

Remember you are buying from suppliers outside your country if you don’t have even money to buy much at once then you will have to be wasting your money on logistics and shipping each time you have to do a repeat order. Have you even thought of the waiting time it takes for goods to arrive, I mean, you are not buying from Lagos to Benin, this is international shipping and it takes time.

Business is a game of speed and numbers, the more repeat orders you do buying in small quality the less profit you make because of the more money you waste while shipping repeatedly which you would have spent just one time if you had enough money to shop at once.

2. You cannot meet up their MOQ

Suppliers in mini importation business sell by Minimum Order Quantity this means that there is a minimum quantity you can order, most small importers cannot meet up the supplier’s MOQ maybe because they don’t have enough money to meet up or because they do not have the customer base for so much quantity.

3. You can get it cheaper here in Nigeria

I remember when I started my mini importation business I started to notice that after I calculated my shipping and clearing fees the price became same or even higher than the prices of same products in the Nigeria market.

There are very big importers in Nigeria that buy in large containers, because of the quantity they buy they get it at an outrageously cheaper price and that allows them to sell at a price that small importers will buy from international suppliers.

For instance, a bag that is sold for 5000naira each in China, if a big importer buys 100,000pieces of the bags he can get each for as low as 2000naira, after adding shipping and clearing fee and even their profit, the big supplier can still sell each bag for 4000naira here in Nigeria whereas the small importer is wasting money buying at a higher price from abroad.

I have over 100 suppliers contacts and warehouses for different products that you can get for as low as what is sold in China, if you are a small importer or you are planning to go into mini importation business please save yourself the stress and buy from big warehouses at a cheaper rate, sell to your customers quickly, make your profit and grow your business massively.

4. You will get it faster

Most shipping companies take about 10days to ship goods from China to Nigeria by air and 40 to 60days by sea but if you’re buying from your Nigerian supplier you can even walk into their warehouse and buy or you get it delivered with 24 to 72hours depending on distance and logistics factors.

5. Some of the warehouses can help you dropship.

Dropshipping is one partnership we do at our warehouse and most warehouses in Nigeria does it too. Imagine if you are outside Lagos but you have customers in Lagos you want to sell to, your supplier can arrange for delivery to your customer even without seeing you face to face and you can still make your profit, this is not possible with mini importation.

If you do not have huge capital in millions to invest in importation business, this is what you should do, please stop looking for where you will learn mini importation, locate big warehouses buy from them at China prices and sell to your customers.
